I had the great
pleasure of meeting Mrs. Kaye Espinosa at the 20th Annual KToT
Convention in San Antonio, TX, September 26 & 27, 2003. Even
though I have been using TLC products for the last three years, I
wanted to see the "right" way to do TLC lessons. Mrs. Espinosa
assured me that there was no right or wrong way, but I found that I
would like to try her way to see if it will work in my classroom.
I have been cutting my pieces and putting each piece in Ziploc bags
and passing them out one piece at a time. She gives her
children all of the pieces at once and
has them hide all the pieces
under the large piece so they don't get confused with the pieces
they are working with.
It is also
a good idea to have a finished product to show your students, and
never make them guess what they will be making. One more tip
that I picked up, tape all of your pieces on a wall or bulletin
board where you will be working, that way your students will always
know what piece they will be looking for.

Using the "My
Country" make-a-book theme, we did two step-by-step patriotic art
lessons. To order this book or any other TLC Lessons go to
